My Journey as a Content Creator

💡 How It All Started — A Keypad Phone & A Spark

It all began in 2014, with nothing but a basic Nokia keypad phone in hand. My brother and I would shoot fun little videos, crafting stories just for the joy of it. The quality was terrible, the storytelling was immature, but in that mess of pixels, I found something that stuck with me — a genuine passion for cinema, videography, and storytelling. That tiny camera opened a door I didn’t know existed. It wasn’t just about recording videos; it was about capturing moments, playing with perspectives, and conveying emotions — even if the footage was blurry and the sound was crackly.

Leveling Up — My First YouTube Channel

When my dad got a smartphone, everything changed. Suddenly, I had a slightly better camera — enough to think bigger. That’s when I started my YouTube channel — Aatmavu Talks in 2017.
On this channel, I posted everything that excited me — political satires, short films, comedy sketches, video edits — each video was an experiment. One of my early sketches (watch it if you dare — it’s rough!):

College Days & The DSLR Dream

When I stepped into college, my creative itch stayed with me. I started making travel videos, lifestyle snippets, and continued my content journey. I still didn’t own a camera, but fortunately, one of my friends bought a DSLR. That was my golden ticket — I borrowed it whenever I could, especially to shoot episodes for my Political Satire Series:

Lockdown Chronicles — My First Proper Short Film

Then came 2020, the pandemic year when the world stood still — but my creativity didn’t. With time on my hands, I wrote my first proper short film script. I handled everything — storywriting, screenplay, cinematography, direction, editing, post-production. It was a mammoth task, but when I finally released it on YouTube, it felt like a milestone.

A New Medium — Starting Aatmavu Talks Podcast

In 2021, I decided to try a new form of storytelling — podcasting. I launched the Aatmavu Talks Podcast, a casual yet personal space where I shared experiences from vacations with friends, personal reflections, literature I loved, and random thoughts. 🎧 Listen to the Podcast Without any fancy equipment, I recorded 7 episodes, which surprisingly garnered 7,000+ listeners across platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts — all while I was still pursuing my bachelor’s degree.

📷 Dreams Realized — My First Professional Camera

2022 was the year things came full circle. With my first job after college, I saved up and finally bought my dream camera — a Canon 200D Rebel 3. That was one of my proudest purchases. Since then, I’ve taken that camera everywhere — capturing moments, shooting, experimenting. 🎬 My Video Editing Works 📸 Photography Showcase But I didn’t just stop at videos and photos. I dabbled in writing poems, short stories, designing posters for friends, and even ventured into wedding videography — including a ‘Save the Date’ for my girlfriend’s sister and a full wedding shoot for a friend (who, by the way, just married early — I’m still young, promise 😄).

🛠️ Lessons, Growth & What’s Next

This journey wasn’t just about cameras or content. It taught me to be resourceful, patient, and to create with whatever I had in hand. Whether it was a blurry phone video or a polished DSLR shoot, I learned to focus on the story rather than the tools. There’s still a lot I want to explore — more stories to tell, more formats to try, more places to leave my creative mark.

The Vision Ahead

This isn’t the end. My creative itch is still very much alive, and my toolkit is only expanding. Whether it’s through films, podcasts, photos, or even writing, I want to keep experimenting — keep building. And who knows, maybe the next story I tell will be about a whole new medium I’ve yet to discover. Stay tuned. The journey’s just getting started.
